Star brite Liquid Rubbing Compound is formulated for light to medium oxidation on boat surfaces. Apply by hand or electric buffer to cut through dull, oxidized finishes and restore original color and luster. Follow up with a Star brite polish to seal and protect the restored surface. Note: all rubbing compounds are abrasive and can scratch gel coat, metal, and painted surfaces — consider trying Star brite Fiberglass Color Restorer & Sealer first, as it is significantly less abrasive and can typically bring moderately oxidized surfaces back to a like-new condition without the risk of scratching.

Directions:

  • Wash the surface with Star brite Boat Wash to remove dirt and grime before application.
  • Apply a small amount of compound to the surface using a clean, dry cloth.
  • Work in a circular, overlapping motion with firm pressure while the compound remains wet.
  • Rotate the cloth frequently to avoid reapplying removed oxidation back onto the surface.
  • Allow to dry until a light haze forms, then buff off with a separate clean, dry cloth.
  • Work in small sections at a time to ensure even, uniform results.
  • Multiple applications may be needed for fully restoring heavily oxidized areas.
  • When using an electric buffer, avoid excessive pressure to prevent burning the surface.
  • Once color and gloss are restored, seal and protect with a Star brite polish.
